This is a general directory for the species of TI. For more information on strengths and weaknesses, check out the Abilities Explanation. Also, be sure to take a look at the Species Hierarchy. HumansElvesPixiesDwarvesGoblinsLycansVampiresDemonsDjinnMixed races are very rare, but not unheard of. Generally, you take the traits of you dominant parent, but there are exceptions. For example, and immortal/mortal child would only get long life and not immortality. Also, not all races can reproduce with each other. Mixed races will not be commonly accepted and must be approved by a moderator.

Humans The dominant race of Earth, humans are a unique and varied people. While they may not posses the incredible abilities of the other races, they have survived the test of time with their adaptability and ingenuity. Humans are very creative and inquisitive creatures, their thirst for knowledge can intimidate some of the more simple races, but none can deny that they can now hold their own with these inventions. Humans are naturally quite skilled in areas of science. Mechanics and chemistry being their two major areas in this world. Some humans display an amazing talent toward potion brewing, creating 'miracle salves' or magical bombs to use against their enemies. Humans who have an affinity with technology can design fearsome magical weapons and systems like cloaking devices and flight systems, even extending to laser based weaponry. What is truly dangerous about these inventions is that non-magic using people can use them, and they even the sides when humans go to war with such physically powerful species such as the demons or vampires. When a human magic user invents a new object that meshes magic and technology, the whole world can change in a matter of days. Humans are varied in there relations. They enjoy the creativity of pixies, the knowledge of elves, and share a love of creation with the dwarves. They view the lycans as mysterious beasts, though a friendly lycan will find many human friends. Vampires and demons are viewed with a negative disposition, some humans may be more open minded then others. Goblins are viewed as a barbaric civilization, but humans know that not all goblins fit this mold. Strengths: Potions Master, Technologic

Elves Elves are the immortal guardians of the forests of Earth. They do not show themselves to non-magical humans often, and only the government regulations keep them from breaking into all out war with them for constantly destroying their homes. Any large forested area that is protected by the government, including most national parks, probably houses one of the unique spots called Fairy Glenns. The homeland of elves is a forest beyond imagining at the foot of what the elves call the sacred tree, Yggdrasil. The exact location of this forest is unknown, and it is impossible to go directly there. Any elf or pixie can enter or leave this sacred ground from a Fairy Glenn, which exist in forests of significant size. The main requirement for a Fairy Glenn is the unmodified existence of nature, so they have become rather hard to come by. The Fairy Glenns are guarded by the tree spirits, dryads, and will transport you to their homeland instantly. There is nothing stopping another race from using a Fairy Glenn if a pixie or elf leads them to one, for only those races can see these passages for what they are, but they may not meet a warm welcome on the other side, where Thaumaturgy International has no jurisdiction. Elves themselves are incredibly wise, and have been seen as one of the most intelligent races on the planet. They are skilled hunters and are usually more based around speed and nimble movements then brute strength. Their eternal life spans ensure that elves are the ones to go to when any answer is needed regarding history or mythology. Elves share a close connection to pixies, viewing them as a sort of younger cousin. Anything that threatens an elf or pixie will bring upon swift retribution from both. While they are allied with humans and dwarves, they do not especially enjoy their company, viewing humans as too reliant on fabricated creations, and dwarves as generally grumpy and hard-headed. The get along well with lycans, seeing their transformation as a connection to nature that they share. Demons and vampires are seen as an abomination on all that is natural by the elves. Goblins are seen as similar to pixies, and so the elves show them a good deal of respect. Strengths: Super Intelligence, Immortality, Night Vision, High Speed

Pixies Pixies are short of stature and lifespan, usually not living past the age of 40, and never growing past the height of 3 feet. Pixies are born, however, with their intelligence and magical abilities nearly fully matured, so they can viewed fully 'grown' at their first birthday. Pixies view the world with a sort of child-like wonderment many other races perceive as being immature. They can be pranksters and annoying sometimes, but most races put up with these pranks because they know better then to make an enemy of a pixie. When angered they can be very dangerous enemies, and they very rarely travel alone. Pixies are seen as a sort of good luck charm, a superstition that persists to this day, another reason why the other races tolerate their pranks and childish nature. There is another reason pixies are viewed as equals to the other races; their magical ability is unmatched. Pixies are born with an innate talent with magic that can make even the greatest mortal archmage look like a fool. Pixies do not normally seek fights, instead preferring to enjoy their lives. While they may have incredible magical ability, they rarely use it seriously, falling back to pranks or using their magic to make festivities or similar things. Pixies get along with everyone and anyone. Their race may stay together but they have no central community to make something like racial views standard. The opinion a pixie may have on other races varies greatly. Strengths: Super Speed, Mind Powers, Natural Caster, Commune with Nature, Sparkle Weaknesses: Frailty, Short Life

Dwarves Dwarves are stoic and serious most of the time, but they can be outright merry as well, especially when they have partaken of the drink. Some can view them as being gruff or rude. It may be true that dwarves do not forge new relationships easily, but a dwarven relationship is stronger then any metal, as their loyalty is known far and wide as being absolute. Even two warring families of dwarves will come to each others aid should they suffer an outside attack, so deep is the loyalty engraved into them. For a dwarf, clan and race come above all other things. All dwarves have a clan name, and can trace back their ancestry at least 10 generations. A dwarf who betrays his family becomes an outcast to his own people, and loses the right to use his clan name, so all dwarves see him as marked. There is no forgiveness from such a sin; the dwarves are a very unforgiving people, and they hold grudges for centuries. Dwarves live deep in the mountain ranges surrounding Earth. Where human spelunkers might view an area too dangerous to enter, a dwarf laughs and rappels down a cliff with skill no human could match. Dwarves are well known as masterful smiths, in fact many base weapons used in human Magi-Tech are made by the dwarves. Dwarves live long, and are well suited to the difficult life that living in the earth can be. They do not move from their mountain often because they are not well suited to living outside. Dwarves are short, stocky and resilient, but they are also very slow. No race has ever attempted to invade a dwarven mountain from the outside, no race was dumb enough to try. Due to living underground, most dwarves are dazzled by bright and sudden lights, and they find the sunlight to be uncomfortable and hot. It should be noted that dwarves are also notorious for their alcohol creation and consumption. Anyone who wishes to get in good with the dwarves need only craft a fine item or survive a night of drinking with them to be well on their way. Dwarves get along with humans, since both races have a love for creating fine things. Elves are viewed as too flighty and unwilling to commit to anything worth doing, and pixies are a source of constant headaches (mostly involving a dwarves beard). Dwarves respect lycans greatly for their pack mentality and the loyalty they show to other members of their pack, similar to their own familiar bonds. Vampires and demons are viewed as too dangerous to interact with, plus the vampires are not terribly fond of their forges. Goblins have a long bitter history with dwarves, and the dwarves tolerate them only marginally. Before the establishment of Thaumaturgy International, they warred almost constantly. Strengths: Super Defense, High Strength, Night Vision, Long Life Weaknesses: Light Sensitivity (minor), Low Speed

Goblins2 | 3 | 4 Goblins are generally physically more animalistic then the other races, with the possible exception of the lycans, though there are goblins that look relatively human-like. They have been branded 'wild animals,' 'crude monsters,' and other such names, but that doesn't change their abilities. They live deeper in the mountains then the dwarves do, and their world is almost complete darkness. When dwarves dig too far, they come across a community of goblins, and the meeting is rarely peaceful. Goblins are the perfect counterpart to the dwarves, where the dwarves excel in physical ability, goblins are masters of magic and mental attacks. It is this reason that the goblins were able to survive attacking the dwarves on their home front for as long as they have. Though the wars between them have stopped, there is still a large amount of bad blood between them. Each side has it's own story as to how the war started, but nobody really knows for sure anymore. A goblin's magic is very similar to a pixie's, but they claim that it is from a more intimate connection to the spiritual side of magic then to the natural side. A goblin mage might appear to someone else to be something akin to a witch doctor, and many cultures view them as such. Many of the younger generations of goblins are beginning to abandon 'the old ways' in hopes of fitting in with the other species. Whatever they think on their practices, goblins are not to be underestimated, their mastery of their magic can make them a potent force in the world if they so desired. For the time being they are content to simply stay in their underground homes and live their lives furthering their magic. Goblins get along with pixies, seeing them as a sort of half brother, and the pixies do not judge on appearances, which makes this connection possible. Goblins see elves as too idealistic, but respect them for protecting their weaker kin, the pixies. They get along with lycans, understanding the calling of the spirits the lycans embrace. Humans are viewed as volatile and dangerous creatures that should be observed closely. Vampires and goblins get along very well, thanks to the love of the darkness and the constant mistrust they must endure. Goblins view demons as either an affront to their spirituality or higher beings, depending on the faction. Strengths: Natural Caster, Night Vision, Super Intelligence, Long Life, Mind Powers Weaknesses: Light Sensitivity (extreme), Frailty

LycansPlease familiarize yourself with transforming here if you RP, or plan on RPing, a Lycan. Only humans can become lycans. Other races, when bitten by lycans, will merely experience animalistic urges around the time of the full moon and feel more energetic. Physically weak humans most of the time, on the week of the full moon lycans become very strong and fast and have keener senses. On the night of the full moon, they will transform completely until dawn and their full abilities will be unleashed. Transformed lycans are not bloodthirsty killing machines; they retain their normal state of mind, but they are, in general, more aggressive. Lycans usually have a pack of companions and family that they are fiercely loyal to which helps each other out during their weak period. When the full moon rises a pack of lycans can destroy all but the most powerful opponents. Their community is made up of many, many individual packs, but they all answer to the main pack leader. While touching silver does not cause them harm, merely unease, this metal can rip through their skin as if they were humans, so they avoid it if at all possible. However, a werewolf confronted with a silver weapon is similar to a cornered rat, and if the lycan cannot escape it will fight ferociously for its life. Lycans are able to easily tell if there is silver in the area. Lycans are not overly fond of humans and their constant interference in the natural world. Their own connection with the natural and primal meshes well with elves, pixies and goblins, and their pack loyalty earns them respect from the dwarves. Vampires are a hated enemy of the lycans, and it has been all Thaumaturgy International could do to get them to stop warring with each other. It should be noted that Lycans can be born naturally. Lycans can mate with other Lycans as well as humans and elves. The offspring of a lycan mating with another race can be either a lycan, a human, or a half-elf. There is no such thing as a half-lycan, a newborn child either is a lycan, or is not. A child of a human and a lycan will be a human, but a child of an elf and a lycan will be a half-elf (Since all Lycans were once humans.). Since lycans can be created by being bitten by other lycans, their society has rules for this. A lycan who passes lycanthropy onto a human is required by pack laws to invite them into their pack. The human can, and often does, refuse this offer, but it is offered so as to help the human control the beast that now rages inside of them. It is this beast that can cause the insane tendencies in lycans. A lycan that grows up in a full and helpful pack is far less likely to succumb to the 'pull of the beast' as it is called. Strengths: Super Strength, Super Speed, Super Intelligence, Super Defense, Night Vision Weaknesses: Light Sensitivity (minor), Insane Tendencies (Less Common in natural lycans), Frailty

VampiresPlease familiarize yourself with transforming here if you RP, or plan on RPing, a Vampire. Everyone knows the myths of vampires, foul creatures descended from the original Count Dracula, repelled by crosses, garlic, and running water. These are merely myths, and the truth is well known to the magical community. Vampires are creatures of the night, and they do devour blood for sustenance. Exactly what blood they devour differs from vampire to vampire. The touch of sunlight on their flesh incinerates them, and even if they are not exposed to it, vampires are very sluggish and weak during daylight hours. Vampires are not fond of fire either. Any race can become a vampire, though their natural talents will be overridden by the vampires'. Vampires have the powers to play with the minds of weak willed people. While it takes a very powerful vampire to completely dominate their victim, most vampires are capable of making mental suggestions. Vampires will not die of old age, but they are not impossible to kill. Fire and sunlight do the job admirably well. Piercing the heart will kill most (But not all!) vampires. Decapitation will always kill a vampire. Actually performing the decapitation is another thing all together. Vampires may live separately if they wish, but all report to the Council of Elders in the vampire homeland, The Coven, who work to maintain balance and stability in vampiric affairs. To defy The Coven means death, so vampires must be mindful of their actions. Vampires tend to get along with demons, seeing each other as kindred spirits. They find the pixies annoying and the elves worthless philosophers. They view the dwarves as uncultured barbarians playing in their caves, and lycans as an enemy that needs to be removed, when the time allows it. Vampires and goblins get along, for a love of the darkness and the racism they have both fallen victim to. Strengths: Super Strength, Super Speed, Mind Powers, Immortality, Night Vision, Fade to Black Weaknesses: Light Sensitivity (extreme), Insane Tendencies, Infertility

DemonsPlease note: All Demons require administrator approval. Demons are misfits in this plane of existence, not here by choice but by chance. Their home is the realm of the demon king Aretas Immortalis, known to some as Hell (though the human perception of Hell and the true incarnation of it are only slightly similar). The members of AIC, the cult worshiping this demon king, are constantly trying experiments in demon-summoning to perfect the process for the eventual summoning of Aretas himself, and so there are a good number of demons being torn from their homeland and brought to the earth. These summonings are highly experimental in nature and they often go horribly wrong. They are not well suited to this world, and so their physical forms are very volatile. They mature physically very sporadically, sometimes appearing as a teen at age two, or as a young child at age fourteen. They may resemble humans or look more like the traditional view of demons, and even many of the humanoid ones have retractable wings. Their bodies are very strong here, but they are so out-of-place that they will quickly die from having so much power, termed "burning out". Their lives are like that of an explosive; fast, strong, deadly, and impressive, but very short lived, not usually living past the age of 15, and never in recorded history living past the age of 20. Though all demons follow the demon king in their realm, not all of them support the AIC's cause here. While the AIC believes that by bringing him to this plane they would be 'freeing him', many demons think that bringing Aretas here would effectively kill him, and so there are often demons that will help TI take the Cult down. Strengths: Super Strength, Super Speed, Super Intelligence, Super Defense Weaknesses: Infertility, Light Sensitivity (minor), Short Life, Insane Tendencies

Djinn Please note: Djinn are non-playable characters. Djinn are a mysterious race, and very little is known about them. It is thought that there is only one djinn currently in existence, and it is nearly impossible to find him unless he wants to be found. Djinn can take any form they desire, from appearing as a normal human, to an impressive beast, to a cloud of smoke. They cast difficult spells with ease, and are rumored to be able to grant wishes if they so desire. Strengths: Natural Caster, Super Speed, Super Intelligenge, Super Defense, Super Strength, Mind Powers, Immortality Weaknesses: Insane Tendencies

Hierarchies of the Species
These are the individual 'governments' of each species. The leaders of each of these governments make up the TI Council.
Humans: The Governor of Raewyn Island takes the position of top human. It is an elected position.
Dwarves: All dwarves answer to the Dwarf King. He usually appoints a staff of councilors, and rules for life. The Dwarf Kings eldest son takes the throne when he dies.
Pixies: The Pixie Matriarch rules over all the Pixies and has absolute power over their actions. The Pixies have almost a hive mentality when the Pixie Matriarch commands it. This is also a hereditary position.
Lycans: The Alpha, or 'The Lord', is usually the most deadly and cunning Lycan of the time. This position goes to whomever challenges and successfully defeats the current Alpha in combat on the night of the full moon.
Vampires: All vampires answer to the Elder's council. The Chairman of the Council is the ultimate power in vampire government.
Elves: The Elf Lord and Lady preside over the elves of the land, and they too will often have advisor's to assist them. Usually the eldest of the Princes will attend TI Council Meetings in their place.
Demons: Usually the eldest or most experienced living demon will take the position for the Demons. They possess no real power over the other Demons other than that they probably command a great deal of respect from them.
Goblins: The goblins answer to their king and spiritual leader, known as the Shaman. The means of picking the Shaman are completely unknown, but it is believe the process involves many rituals and pilgrimages. The Goblins follow this ruler almost fanatically.
Djinn: There is only one Djinn known to currently exist, and he rarely bothers to show up to meetings. Rarely meaning he hasn't been around in 200 years or so.
