Name: Torin DeInnes
Gender: Male
Age: 376
History:
Born Sunday, February 29th, 1632, in Dublin, Torin was immediately recognized as 'unique.' Even from a young age, his exceptional intelligence was evident. His parents, both secretly skilled in magic themselves, sent him off to AofT in the wake of the growing anti-magic sentiment in the area. He passed quickly through the curriculum, finishing even the most challenging courses by the age of 16.
Torin, finished his education, returned to his home in Dublin only to find it deserted. He soon learned that they had been charged with the suspicion of performing magic, but had fled to England. So Torin left for TI's Great Britain Chapter. He was greeted warmly by his family there, and he took up a comfortable job as a Magister at the British AofT. He was offered the position of Human Council Member at Raewyn Island many times when he turned the legal age of 18, but turned it down so he could stay close to his parents. However, after a year of mourning after they died when he was 23, he finally accepted.
However, when he arrived at Raewyn Island it was in flames. There were bodies everywhere, and as he approached TI Headquarters, he was stopped by a group of battle-weary solider, who explained to him that the Aretas Immortalis Cult had gained entry to the headquarters after a surprise attack on the island, and had sealed the doors.
Torin was able to open the doors with some difficulty, and the rag-tag army swarmed in, emboldened by Torin's efforts. But before they reached their destination, a loud explosion was heard; AIC had breached the Sanctum's doors. When they reached the wreckage, they could see a fierce battle ensuing between the leader of the cult, Xarxes, his apprentice, Abadon, and the Chancellor, Damian Fidelis.
As the group rushed to the aid of the Chancellor, he yelled at them to stay back, giving Xarxes the opening he needed. He struck the Chancellor with a mortal blow and turned around, laughing maniacally. But when he saw Torin, he froze. His face turned white, and he yelled something about 'the foreseen one'. Torin, in his anger at seeing his idol murdered, killed Xarxes on the spot. Abadon grabbed his master's body, and disappeared from the island by unknown means.
With his dying breath, Fidelis appointed Torin the new Chancellor and passed his gift of immortality onto Torin. Fidelis' body seemed to age rapidly until it was shriveled and skeletous, and then it turned to dust and disappeared.
Torin appointed that day, May 15th, 1655, Damian Fidelis Day, which remains a time of mourning to this day. Torin has reigned over TI all these years, far surpassing any of his predecessors, and he still looks as if he has only aged a few years.
Personality:
While Torin may be ancient, he is nearly indistinguishable from any twenty-something year old man in his personality and behaviour, and has no trouble fitting in with anyone of that age. However, he is far beyond any other living being in his wisdom and knowledge, other than perhaps his nemesis, Abadon, who also holds the secret to immortality.
Torin is an avid practical joker, and has had many, many years to perfect his execution. Anyone who is close to him knows not to trust him when he has 'that mischievous twinkle in his eyes.' He also has a great sense of humour, which is very helpful when he is paid back for pranks he has committed.
He is a very compassionate individual, and has repented for his killings on Damian Fidelis day years ago for hundreds of years. He now believes that peaceful conflict resolution is the answer to most problems, but he is smart enough to know that that is not always an option.
Appearance:
Damian has longish brown hair, which he leaves as it pleases after a hundred years or so of trying to tame it. He is generally good looking, and though he is not the most built individual, he is pretty fit.
Magical Combat:
Torin's prowess in magical combat is unmatched. He excels in casting nearly all spells, aside from healing spells, which he has a great deal of difficulty with, though he isn't keen on admitting it.
He is also incredibly accurate with a pistol or other similar weapons.
Physical Combat:
While Torin may be fit, he is not incredibly strong. He can't fight with his fists or any hand to hand weapons, though he could probably defend himself if it came down to it.
His legs are not the strongest, and he is supposed to use a cane, though it is rare you will see him with it. As such, he is a pretty terrible runner, instead relying on teleportation and vehicles to get around.
