"no it's ok to be quiet, I've heard a lot of people say that the quiet people are usualy one of the smarter people out there.." Demetri said with a light smile. He didn't want her to think it was a be thing to be who she was. "Everyone is different and you need to learn to except it, and if you do that you are sure to make friends.." Demetri said with a smile. He shook his head to her. "no no it's ok...It is true I'm afraid of water. It's becuase I can't swim and it's really hard to dry my wings if they get wet." Demetri said as he didn't want her to feel bad. she didn't do anything wrong. "Please don't worry it is fine I don't mind telling you. You seem very nice.." Demetri said as he was still smiling...

"I...uh...uhm...thank you?" She offered awkwardly, unsure if Demetri was really complimenting her or not. It seemed so, as she just apologized for being quiet, which he followed by saying that the quiet people are usually smart. It would be simply rude to go without saying 'thank you.' But what if he was just making a general statement, and it wasn't a compliment at all? She would have surely made a fool of herself...her cheeks tinted pink in embarrassment, but luckily, being out in the sun for so long had already caused her skin to burn slightly. He probably wouldn't realize she was blushing.
"I don't know if that's really true. I don't think that being quiet has very much to do with being smart. I'm sure there's a lot of loud people who're very smart, and there's probably a lot of quiet people who aren't." She shook her head from side-to-side, scolding herself for making such remarks. Demi hadn't even asked her opinion on the matter, he'd probably think her strange for voicing it. Maybe he didn't even want to hear her opinion.
Moat complete, she scooped up a handful of wet sand from behind her and dropped it in the center of the dry sand her moat was surrounding. She repeated this, piling each scoop of wet sand on top of the last. Her 'tower' resembled a mud pie more than anything; it was shapeless and could not stand the way she wanted it to. She frowned at it, and decided that she probably did need some kind of pail to make real sand-towers.
She nodded sympathetically when he admitted that he couldn't swim. She wasn't a very strong swimmer, herself, only able to keep herself afloat. If she ever got tossed off a boat, she'd probably be in big trouble. She couldn't imagine how hard it would be to swim with wings.
"Thank you." She said again, this time much more confidently. She knew that had to be a compliment. "Um, don't you have class today?"
