Dieter strolled into the pet shop. It was just before closing but he could bet that the owner would still be there. He'd met her in New York City and he felt he should at least show some courtesy and see what her shop had to offer. It wasn't until after meeting Kandy that he actually thought of owning a pet. Sure he'd have to take care of the guy but he'd get to have some company in his apartment, maybe office. Who knows. He loved animals. He might have to have someone help take care of his pet when he travels but that would be easy. Whichever Seraph or Angel got him mad enough at them would get stuck with the job.
Dieter walked casually into the store and looked for the owner. "Hello Kandyce, how are you doing this evening."

Kandy jumped slightly at the sound of Dieter's voice. She was in a rather embarrassing position when he decided to come in, her denim-clad rear high in the air. She was poised like a cat behind her work desk, unloading several boxes of new shipments so noisily that she didn't hear the tinkle of the bell she attached to the door as he entered.
"Oh my goodness! You did just sneak up on me, didn't you?" She carefully pulled herself to her feet and brushed herself off habitually. "It's a good thing I'm just unloading pet chow and supplies! We just got a new shipment in today. Oh, I don't know what would happen if I was holding something sharp and you crept up on me like that!"
She was cheerful as always, but something about her tone made it seem that she was playfully scolding him. I wonder if I should get one of those desk bell thingies! That would be a good safety measure, right? But I didn't hear the door-bell. Oh dear...I'm so absent-minded!
"I'm doing great! Can I help you with something, Dieter?" She mentally congradulated herself on remembering his name correctly.

Dieter chuckled, "don't worry, I'm just here to shop. I was thinking of getting a pet. Do you have any suggestions, oh preferably something that's particularly active at night." Dieter never felt he had time or room in his life for a pet. He always thought his duties came first. However since meeting Kandy the idea had been stuck in his head and it seemed like an interesting endeavor.

"Don't worry?" Kandy queried, looking delightfully puzzled. "Why, whatever would I be worrying about?" She took his words quite literally, not at all considering that he could be just teasing. In fact, she was inwardly a bit worried that she somehow gave off the impression that she was unhappy to see him, which wasn't at all true. She just loved seeing people!
"Active at night?" She navigated herself around the desk so she stood closer to her customer, and tapped the side of her head thoughtfully. "Well, we don't have that many that are specifically nocturnal, but I suppose they could be trained that way. Maybe we should get some of those, huh? Nocturnal creatures, I mean!"
The pink-haired half-elf gestured to the back of her shop, motioning Dieter to head back where she kept all of the magical creatures. "Were you looking for a magical pet or a non-magical one? If you prefer magical, the closest we have to nocturnal would be the kappas!"

"Magical definitely, I heard those dwarf dragons are charming guys. I remember reading that each breed has a different color and personality. What're those like?"
Dieter had never gone to a pet shop before. It was all the rave back in the 1800's. Dieter was slow to catch onto the whole zoo trend. After all, dogs were bread to hunt and track back in his day. I mean sure they were fun to play around with but they usually smelled a bit of blood when they lapped at you.
