This is where you will find an in-depth explanation of what exactly mind powers are, as well as the rules of their use.
"What are Mind Powers?"
Mind Powers are the ability to influence the world around you with your mind. This is different than regular magic. Some examples of Mind Powers are telekinesis, ability to hypnotize, mind control, and mind reading, but this is not the full scope of their possibilities.
Note that hypnotism and mind control are different.
Hypnotism involves making suggestions upon people, and it changes the way they act or think. The subject will not be aware that they are hypnotized unless the attempt is unsuccessful, and the hypnotist's attention need not be on the subject to keep it working.
Mind control offers full control of the subject, and the subject will remember everything that has happened, but the controller must use all of their concentration to maintain this control.
"Who has Mind Powers?"
Pixies, Goblins, Vampires, and Djinn have Mind Powers as follows:
Pixies: Pixies have the ability to naturally make mental suggestions upon people, and stronger pixies may even be able to hypnotize fully. Also, some stronger pixies have the ability to read minds as well.
Goblins: Goblins have the ability to move things with their mind, telekinesis. Younger goblins may only move small objects, and only slowly, but older goblins may have much higher strength. Older goblins may also possess the ability to control the minds of others.
Vampires: Vampires may posses any of the following Mind Powers: telekinesis, ability to hypnotize, and mind reading. Many vampires are unable to perform any of these feats, and if they can. usually they will not have the ability to do all of these. Instead they will have one, or maybe two. Only the most powerful vampires possess all of these abilities.
Djinn: It is unknown what the true abilities of the Djinn are, but it is rumoured that they can use any of the Mind Powers.
"How do I use Mind Powers?"
If your character has the ability to use Mind Powers, there are some usage rules you must follow.
1. When mind reading, you can only assume what has been given by the other character, either in their post or in their profile. Don't think thoughts for characters, or assume they're thinking something unless it has been mentioned by the other character. For example: If Sue posts "'Nice to meet you, Bob,' she said, but she didn't tell him her name." then Bob (if he could read minds) would be fine in posting "'Nice to meet you too, Sally,' Bob replied, hoping to throw her off." but not "Bob could read Sally's mind, so he knew she thought he was hot."
2. Mind control and hypnotizing require the permission of both the other character and of a staff member.
3. Telekinesis does not require permission, but unreasonable use of it will not be tolerated. If you're unsure whether or not something is reasonable, do not hesitate to ask a staff member. In general, lifting something like a book bag would be fine, but your character probably will not be lifting elephants.
