Name: Nicholas J. Traptory
Age: 25
Race: Human
Nationality: American
Profession: CEO and founder of Modern Arcane Guild of Inventors (MAGI).
History/Personality:
Nicholas was a man with something prove, that you could be rich, powerful and intelligent without falling victim to arrogance, greed and lust for power. So far he is doing quite well, as he has taken his place in the limelight of the Magi Tech world.
Oddly enough though, considering his place in magical society, Nicholas is not a magic using human. Roughly five years ago, he was attacked by a vampire in his home city of New York. Originally he perceived the attacker to be simply a mugger, and chances are that even if he escaped, his Veil would have remained intact. However, TI had been chasing this vampire, and came upon Nicholas being accosted, eliminating the threat. The battle used high amounts of magic, and Nicholas' Veil was shattered in that fight, pulling him into a world he had only dreamed of.
Nicholas was, when he was a normal human, a technician with great interest in machines and to a lesser extent, computers. A creative mind, he was originally brought back to TI head quarters to be integrated into this new society he was now part of, and to know the rules that he now had to follow as one of the 'un-veiled'. Nicholas quickly modified his knowledge of science with the potential of magic. After all, you don't need to understand why it works like that, just know that it does. Using this basic understanding of magic and it's creative limitations, within his first year in the magical community he helped spearhead five separate Magi Tech breakthroughs. He amassed quite the fortune from his creativity and scientific genius, and then formed his own company, with many people who admired his work under him. Within the four years his company has existed it has become widely successful, having contracts with the TI in military applications and more basic needs alike. Always the eccentric inventor, Nicholas tests all prototypes that leave his company personally. He promotes creativity and thinking outside the box, claiming that: "We can teach people how to create, but we can't teach people how to invent."
Appearance: While Nicholas may come off a little weird at times, make no mistake he is an expert business man. How else could a 'non-magical upstart' make such an impact in the Magi-Tech world? His outfit above is not his usual dress, as he calls it his 'work suit.' He is known to dress like that when testing his new inventions, or making public appearances. In business meetings though he still caries himself as a business man would, sharp dress and proper manners. His staff acknowledge him as a man with a few quirks, and more then a few vices, but someone who does not simply bathe in his wealth and power.
He makes large donations of funds and technology to the Academy of Thaumaturgy, and will sponsor events and make public appearances there from time to time. He believes that the students there are full of potential, and will be a great asset in moving the magical world forward.
Nicholas himself has a very friendly connection with the dwarves, since almost all of his projects use Dwarven craftsmanship as their bases. They admire his ability to create such interesting things, and he will make frequent trips into dwarven mountains to visit and oversee construction of the base materials his company needs. This had made him into an excellent spelunker and quite a good rock climber. And of course a drinker, which was one of his vices before he entered this new world.
He is always seeking creative minded individuals to work for him, and his employees are well compensated for their work. A rumor that goes around says that he interviews all potential applicants himself, but that could be true or false.
Currently rumors say he is working on some massive project with the dwarves, though any details on it have been deemed classified at this time.
