if you don't get caught.
This was a mantra that Mattie Beckett had learned early on in her career as a rebel and "bad girl." Right now she was concocting some rather unusual potion out of the things she'd stolen from the potions lab. Albeit, she had no idea what the stuff did, but it probably wouldn't be good for whomever got hit by it.
So Mattie would have to aim well.
She added the last drop of mystery liquid "A" to mystery liquid "X." Then she scurried out of the way, readying her vessel for a Cancel if necessary...

Kirien watched What's-her-name with mild interest. She was pretending to read some stupid book nearby that she already read or didn't need to read, she couldn't really tell the difference. She was rather poor at potion-making, and was in desperate need of a tutor. She was wonderful at potion-making...in theory. She knew the principles and terminology, the methods, the ingredients and their uses. Basic potions she could create flawlessly. But there was something about the harder ones that she just could not understand, despite how many times she tried. She knew exactly what to do, but still, the potions would never come out properly at all.
So maybe there was something to be gained from watching this girl. Maybe there was some hidden secret she could only learn through observation, that would suddenly solve the great mystery that potion-making was. Maybe ther-did she just scamper away from it?
The redhead chanted a few select swears in her mind. The girl was obviously much worse than she was, if she had to actually run away from the thing. So much for enlightening her.
She gave no greeting to What's-her-face, instead opting to mimic the other girl's movements and get as far away from the potential disaster as possible. She chose to move to the opposite side of the room, where she stood, eyes fixed expectantly on the concoction, book in hand.

Mattie watched as the set up boiled and hissed, various liquids spilling onto the floor. There they hissed and boiled, and Mattie suspected they were attempting to eat through the floor. Which would be alright, though horribly hard to explain.
She glanced over to the other girl, just noticing her. She smirked, thrusting out her hands in the "rock on" symbol. In her book, this was a success...

Kirien raised an eyebrow when the other girl made the "rock on" symbol. If she wasn't mistaken, that gesture was meant to be used as an expression of enthusiasm...
Is she actually proud of that bubbling disaster? That's really sad! She must be even worse than I am!
"You wanted it to look like it's vomiting?" She queried uncertainly. When she was trying to make a potion, she usually tried to make the potion correctly, not just throw things together.

Ju made her way up the steps to the Dorm. She'd been practicing English with Beazule just to make things easier when she gets there.
Remember to make some friends. Friends are important if you are to go unnoticed. Only the spectacularly weird have no friendzzzz.
"I know Beazule. I'll make friends. Who knows, maybe they'll grow to understand our mission," She responded silently in her head. With that she opened the door holding a suitcase containing her books. Scholarships were nice in that they payed for such things. Even if she was transferring in at the current level as her peers. It was all thanks to Beazule's incessant guidance.
The first thing she noticed was a pungent smell, then she saw the frothing mixture. Two other girls were present. She bowed politely then stated, heavily accented but very well pronounced, "hello, my name is Ju Ming, I just got here can one of you help me to my room?"

Chuckling, Mattie rose to her feet, dusting off her pants. Not that they really needed it, but the motion gave her hands something to do.
"Hey, I'm just glad that there's a giant mess in the middle of the dormitory," she commented, waving at the pile. Of course, she she would just notice the new girl's arrival at this time. Beaming, she headed over to her, arm outstretched.
"Hey there, I'm Mattie," she introduced. "I don't know if I can help you to your room though..."
Mostly because Mattie barely knew her way around the dorms herself.
"Where is it, exactly?"

She took off her backpack which contained all of her life possessions. Kind of sad that all her possessions amounted to a cute backpack that her daddy gave her. The thought only blazed through her mind at 90 miles an hour before Beazule's voice shut it down by answering.
Room 413 hall ..... I think it began with a D.[/i]
Well, I can hardly use that as a reference to where I'll be. It's imperfect and I could swear it was 431 and that might be on an entirely different wing of the building. She retorted.
She opened the front pocket of her backpack and carefully pulled out her residential paperwork. "It says that my room is 431.... I have trouble pronouncing this word.... Tordunkstein.....Tordunkstein." She didn't pronounce the Dormitory perfectly but it might be recognizable. Which of course is important. She kind of blushed at the current company.
The potion brewer may be corruptable. I like her style. You should get closer to her Ju Ming.
Ju Ming bowed and said, "I do not know very many people nor my way around."
