First of all, to make a potion, you need to have learned how in Potions class. Simply reading about the potion will lead to accidents. (See: Mattie Beckett)
Secondly, you need to either buy the ingredients from a chemist, be given them by your teacher, or find them in the wilderness. (Or, if you are Mattie Beckett, steal them from class)
And lastly, you need time. Most potions will have to be prepared in advance, or simply bought ready-made. Sitting down to create an elixir in the middle of a battle is not a good idea. (Yes I'm talking to you, Mattie)
Other than these three limitations, the possibilities of potions making are nearly endless. Especially if you are a human. (Other than Mattie Beckett. She's going to end up blowing herself up)
