Jasmine snapped back into reality. Oh, right. She had completely forgotten about him. She let him help her to her feet and smiled a tiny embarrassed smile. She followed, but wasn't in earshot for the whispered voices of Mizu and Dieter. She looked down. "I can't ask you for anything, you've already given me so much..."

"Consider it an annual celebration of your existence. Many living people do the same thing do they not? After all, they are merely simple things. They are things that decay and rot. Although they are beautiful their beauty isn't eternal in the sense we are and can be. Although entropy will demand our death." Dieter pondered on the fatalism of entropy then forgot what he was thinking about, picking his thoughts back up on the subject of the smell of funnel cake and potato chips. "Why to people eat such fattening things?" Dieter continued and started walking into the house.

Jasmine sighed in defeat. "Fine, but now I'm gonna owe you more..." She rolled her eyes but smiled. She wondered what Dieter was thinking about. His train of thought changed so quickly. She wondered for a second if she was ever in his thoughts. But his next words were so very random. "What?"

"I mean it used to people ate such fattening things because it was the best source or protein. However now people eat such starchy and fatty foods in such excess. Why did humanity become so gluttonous. Well the rich ones usually were a bit. I guess it makes sense that there's still world hunger though. I mean, what's the point of being fat if you can't stuff your face for all the malnourished to watch." Dieter looked upward. "All well, I'm going for some of the ol' warm wicked. Some sins are exquisite to drink."

Jasmine just nodded. She understood what he was trying to say, just not where the thought had come from. Maybe he was crazy after all. She couldn't help smiling at that thought. When he mentioned getting a drink, she sighed. Hadn't she been trying to get him out of this habit? "Dieter, you shouldn't drink so much, we talked about this remember?" She doubted he could though. He had gotten pretty drunk pretty quickly.

"Oh, not alcohol. I've got some good lust and sloth blood in the cooler. Would you care for some?" Dieter gave a bit of a smile and continued past the entryway into the dinning room where a few bowls of blood were carefully laid out by Mizu who stood dutifully in the corner.

"Oh, okay then." She smiled and licked her lips as the scent of the blood reached her nose. She looked towards Mizu. "Thanks"

Mizu poured the blood very carefully not even letting a drop spill. The cups were warm and the blood was indeed of the top quality. "Drink it's been seasoned with so many exquisite sins." Dieter sat at the head of the table. "Mizu, I would greatly appreciate the best of our lust section...no maybe wrath... wrath seems to be the best taste for this evening."
Mizu bowed. Without changing her tone, "how about envy?"
"I would really prefer wrath but if that's the taste you feel would be best." Dieter continued oblivious to any subtext.

Their exchange confused Jasmine. What did he mean? Sins? There were sins in the blood? Now that was beyond confusing. But then, when she thought about it, nothing should surprise her anymore. She was a vampire and she just found out that magic exists. Why should anything surprise her now? She could tell that Mizu was hinting at something with her offer. But what? She couldn't exactly read thoughts.

Dieter swiveled his blood in his glass a little, took a sniff, and then he drank. He took a small taste and savored it. He loved the punch the blood gave, the tinge of anger, hatred, and love, joy, and all the emotions that flowed through the man who donated this blood. The wrath was satiated throughout the blood giving it a strong taste. "Blood tells great stories doesn't it Mizu? Please have some yourself."
Mizu took a glass and poured herself a drink and sat at the table. "Well Jasmine what will you have?"

Jasmine raised an eyebrow. "Me? Um, I don't know... Dieter?" She looked towards him. What did she want? She didn't know what it was, how could she choose what she wanted? She looked so confused. Blood was blood. What more was there. "What am I choosing?"
((Could you please post in ephemeral dream?))

"I guess you've never tasted such exquisite blood. The blood of the damned so to speak. Some vampires develop more than just a predilection for ethnicity, or gender. Some vampires acquire the taste for particular sins. Over time I ended up refining my taste for blood as food started reacting poorer and poorer to my gut. So now blood like this is a marvelous delicacy. You might not be able to taste the sins or you might be able to. Really it's more of an imprint than anything else. Go on. Pick a sin."
Dieter stood up and walked to the display of wine bottles containing various special brands of blood, each specializing in a particular sin.

((Thanks))
Jasmine bit her lip. You could taste sins? She shook her head. No surprises remember? "Um... " She thoughts about sins for a second. What was it that Dieter was having? Wrath? No. That was boring. She wanted... "Pride?" She furrowed her eyebrows. Yes, pride. That was a sin wasn't it?

Dieter smiled, "Ah one of those tastes. Well I have a particularly good vintage from the Frenchman collection. A very rare bottle in fact. I think there's still a little left. Mizu I'll have to go and get that bottle."
"would perchance be the taste generated from that particular young Frenchman's blood?"
"Well from her perspective he's quite old and the Frenchman collection ran out of some of the best Frank King's blood a while ago. There's still some of the genuine article of this laying about. Especially since they figured out how to clone some of his blood. However you really taste the genuine article if it's in there." Dieter shouted up as he went into the wine cellar and shouted up from an open stairwell.
"Eureka!" Dieter exclaimed, "Found it. Only two bottles left of it. I'll serve you a glass of this one." Dieter handed Jasmine a wine bottle with a very rich red color. On the label was cryptic French from about five hundred years ago. The only part that was particularly clear was the name of the flavor, Les Napoleon Bonaparte.

Jasmine swallowed. "Oh, um, thank you?" She still wasn't sure why this stuff was so special, but she knew arguing with Dieter would do no good. He would end up having her drink it anyway. She took the bottle, a little smile on her face from his explanation. If only he knew how little of his speech she understood... She pulled the glass towards her and poured some of the blood into it. "I really shouldn't drink this. It's yours, and it's special..."
